You’ve been asked to speak at your local Chamber or Rotary and you’re excited because you know many of the mover and shakers of your community attend this particular event. This is your golden opportunity to showcase you, your product or service.
This is great news right? And you’re excited. But what should you talk about? You have 10 different services or products that you could showcase but you have been given only 20 to 30 minutes to speak, and they don’t allow hard sell pitches.
Please avoid this golden opportunity hard selling the audience; shoving your product or service down their throats, will turn them off. Instead offer an educational presentation that will inform the audience on new tips or trends in your particular field. Presentations are not about you, it is about what your audience will take away from your speech.
Still confused? Let’s say you sell makeup. Don’t talk about you and your makeup line, rather talk about new trends in makeup; colors, dos and don’ts, makeup today vs. the makeup our Mothers wore, i.e. chemicals used then vs. today. Get the idea? Giving an educational presentation will highlight you and your business and offer value to the audience.
Have fun, and be B.A.D.
Believe in your message; if you don’t how can you expect the audience to believe in it
Authentic; be true, be you have fun be yourself
Dynamic; are you passionate about your product or service? If you’re not excited about what you do why should they be?
Does your business depend on you to network or to give presentations?
